In this article I’ll go through the administrator permissions system enabling you to specify which admins have access to certain admin functions.
Now I’m sure your asking your self what the point of this really is?
Well perhaps you only want on or two admins to be able to set the default style/template of your forum. Or perhaps you only want some to be able to access the member edit function of your site. Well it’s quite simple and I am going to show you how to do it here.
So how do we do this?
Well first start by logging into your Admin CP and look at the top for Users like so:
Once you have clicked on Users, you will see this page:
Now from here on the left hand side you will see the link Administrators like so:
Once you have clicked Administrators, you should be on the page:
Now on the right hand side you will see User Info click on that like so:
You will be taken to this page:
Now in order to edit what they can do as a admin you will see a little Administrator link under their name like so:
Once you click that you will see this page:
Now you can see all of the options here. Let me first point out that you require your password in order to make these changes.
For the purpose of this tutorial we are going to select all of the check boxes under Permissions with the exception of Manage Styles, Style Properties and templates. Like the image below:
After you do that enter your password above and click Save Administrator at the bottom.
It’s all done now! Remember you can edit each admin that you have through this page and they can’t change it back. As long as they aren’t the default Admin.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask away!!!!!
