A common question that pops up now and again is “Why do some Pages show likes and some show members? The answer is simply that the Pages module consists of 2 separate features, Pages and Groups. You can allow your members to create only Pages, only Groups, or a combination of the two.
Both Pages and Groups have the same features, the main difference is that Pages use LIKES
and Groups people can JOIN as members.
By default, phpFox has this module setup as a mix of the two, where members can create Pages or they can create Groups. When a member decides to create a Page, they will be sent to the following screen:
The default categories that are setup to create Pages are as follows: Entertainment, Brand or Product, Local Business or Place, Company Organization or Institution, and Artist Band or Public Figure. The default category that is setup to create Groups is Group or Community.
You can modify, delete, and create these categories and their subcategories in the admincp. At this time, you are not able to change a category from Pages to Groups and vice versa, so you will need to delete that category and recreate it as the type you want. All subcategories inherit the Pages or Groups properties from their main category, and all Pages/Groups created in those subcategories will inherit the Pages or Groups properties.
You should now understand why some Pages show likes and some show members.
