Sharing is important in a community. Previous versions of Elgg allowed users to share content generated on your site to other social networks, but not inside the same Elgg network. In this article, I will give you a step by step guide on how to share content (such as blogs, files, pages) within your Elgg site.1. Download the Share extension for Elgg 1.8 here. Once you download the plugin, unzip the file and copy it to the mod folder.
2. Log into your elgg network as an administrator. Go to the Administration Dashboard. Then go to menu “Configure > Plugins”:

5. The Share icon will appear on any elgg entity, allowing your users to share content created inside your elgg network (by other users) on the site:
