Reveton Trojan Virus – Information/Removal Instructions

In the past few months the UK has been hit by the Reveton Virus and it seems the USA are beginning to become under attack below is an important information about the virus and how to remove it, if you get hit by this virus.

Reveton Trojan Information:

Reveton Trojan is also called Trojan:Win32/Reveton.A that is an extremely dangerous Trojan ransomware. Reveton Trojan tries to pretend as the legal notification from the real government departments or other well-known organizations. Usually, Reveton Trojan propagates via Citadel botnet that is attached to other programs. As soon as Reveton Trojan breaks in your system, it immediately displays a fake warning saying your computer is locked as it’s found to break the law. 1. Restart your system and keep pressing F8 key into Safe Mode with Networking
2. Click Start Menu and find run
3. Type in msconfig and hit OK
4. Try to disable some suspicious processes at Startup tab.
5. Repeat step 2, type in regedit and open registry editor
6. Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\

7. Find shell in the right hand panel and change its value into Explorer.exe by right clicking it if the value is different.

8. Save the changes and restart your PC.

Step 1: Delete the following registery files:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon: ‘Userinit’ = ‘\userinit.exe, %Documents and Settings%\[UserName]\Application Data\temp_sys.exe’


Step 2: Delete the following files:


C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs
