Reducing Elgg System Logs

Elgg keeps a system logs that can be very helpful when it comes to know if there have been any changes in Elgg. However, if you don’t control this, the loading speed of your Elgg site could be affected because such logs are stored in the database. In this article I will give you an updated step by step guide on how to reduce the size of system logs in elgg 1.9


Log Rotate is an elgg tool that clears out data in the database by saving it in the Elgg data folder in order to reduce database overhead. It comes by default and activates on install.

Getting Started

1. Sign into elgg as an Administrator:

elgg administrator login arvixe tutorials

2. Open the Administration Dashboard:

3. Go to menu “Configure -> Settings -> Log Rotate“:
