In this article, I will give you a step by step guide on how to Manage Dynamic Content Compression and Static Content Compression with IIS Manager.
Overview
Both compressions types can be enabled on WebsitePanel. Dynamic Content Compression allows your application to use bandwidth more efficiently. Even though it helps bandwidth, it could add some stress to your server. Static Content Compression is more efficient, since it uses bandwidth more efficiently and reduces server load by caching content. Instead of modifying the web.config file of your application, we will use IIS manager to easily use/switch compression types.
Getting started
1. Connect to your site with IIS Manager 7. If you don’t know how to do that, please watch this tutorial video. http://blog.arvixe.com/manage-your-website-with-iis-manager/
2. In the site main configuration page, go to menu “IIS -> Compression”:
3. On this section, you can check the boxes to enable static or dynamic compression, or remove the check marks to disable static or dynamic compression:
4. Click on Apply to save changes. And that’s it! You just set a compression type!
This concludes Manage Dynamic and Static Compression with IIS Manager.
