Today we are going to discuss how to install a fresh copy onto your website using FileZilla. If you don’t know how to use Filezilla please view my other tutorial on this here.
So let’s go ahead and bring up Filezilla and log onto our server. After we do so we are going to navigate to the folder that you are going to use. For this tutorial we are going to use a sub folder like so: yourdomain.com/xenforo you can always install into your root public_html folder this will default as the main site that people view.
So download your installation and unzip it to a location that you can remember and upload it to your server like so:
So now you’re all done and you wonder what to do next? Well you will install it now. So you will go to your browser and navigate to yourdomain/xenforo/install or where ever you uploaded it too. Make sure you put /install at the end and when you do this you should see this page:
After you see this page you will click Begin Instillation. You will then see this page:
This page requires that you set up a MySQL database. You can navigate to your cPanel and then scroll down to the bottom and you will see this icon:
You will click that and be taken to the following page:
Here you create your prefix. I used xenforo go ahead and click next step and you will see this page:
On this page you will use make your user name and password please remember these as you will need them when we get back to our Xenforo install. So go ahead and input the information that you want and click Create User and you will see this:
I click all permissions. This way I don’t have to worry if my user has the correct permissions. So after this you will click Next step and see this page:
This means that it was successful. You will then click Continue with Installation and you will see the page before when you first started and you will click Begin Installation. Keep in mind that the installation process might take a few minutes to complete. So please be patient.
You will see this page next:
On this page you will set up your admin account. So go ahead and enter all of your information. After your done please click Create Administrator. You will see this page:
Here you will input your board name, Board URL contact email and home page Url. After you do this please click setup options. You will see the following page:
