Setup reCaptcha on a phpBB Forum

Hello everyone!

I will be talking about how to setup your reCaptcha account on your phpBB forum!

First, navigate your way to the Google reCaptcha website:

You will be prompted to either create an account and you can link your Gmail or Google + account to this or log in to your existing one. I already have an account with them so I clicked My Account on the left hand side and was taken to the following page:

So either you can select an existing website that you have already registered or you can create a new one. For the purpose of this tutorial I will create a new account.

So you will be asked to enter the website URL after that you will then see a little check box asking if you want to enable this on all domains. This means all associated domains and sub-domains within your site.

You will then click create key and be taken to this page:

(For security of my website I have blocked out my reCaptcha keys)

So now you have a few keys here. I’m sure you’re wondering what am I to do with these? Well let me show you open a new tab in your favorite browser and then, navigate your way to your forums admin panel. After you get there go ahead and click on spambot countermeasures on the left.  It will take you to your favorite page.

After this you will scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on that awesome drop down menu it should look like this:

After you click on Configure you will be taken to the following page:

You will see two boxes here one for Public and one for Private reCaptcha keys. What you do is navigate back to your reCaptcha page and copy and paste these into the boxes. After you do that you will click Submit and see something like this after it finishes:

There you have it! You have enabled reCaptcha on your forum!!

If you have any questions please feel free to ask away!!!!
