This tutorial will show you how easily you can remove news from social engine, Which can also help increase the speed of your admin panel

Use your ftp or cPanel from your host

Go 1
/application/modules/Core/widgets/admin-news

Open Controller.php And find

http://www.socialengine.net/news_rss.php

and remove that line, save and re-upload to your site.
