One of the main features of Elgg is that extra functionality can be added and for free by the use of plugins. There are thousands of plugins available for you to download and use at the Elgg Community. In this article I will give you a step by step guide on how to install a plugin in Elgg.
For the purposes of this guide, I will install the event calendar plugin. Plugins can be obtained from here.
1. We make sure that the plugin that we are about to install is compatible with the Elgg version installed on your site, otherwise, it will cause major problems if you don’t check this.
2. We download the plugin. Once downloaded, unzip the plugin:
3. Once unzipped, with an ftp manager connect to your site and copy the plugin’s main folder to the mod folder of your Elgg installation:
4. Finally, log in to your Elgg site as an Admin. Go to Administration, then Tool Administration and find the plugin. Click on the button that says enable:
After that, you will get a message that your plugin was enable successfully.
This now concludes How to install a plugin in Elgg.

But I got stuck on this I have a blugin i found it and really like it but has little issues and I’m fixing it, one of the issues is? it using its tables and read it somewhere on the internet is poor coding and has to use Elgg’s tables everything is perfect like i know what tables has to connect it to in Elgg’s side but i want to test it out and like stuck on how to connect it to Elgg to your Elgg’s tables instead. Hope to find more explanation or tips anything you this might help me in this case.
