On a previous post I show a way on how to change the language of your site through editing parst of code withing your site. Howevere there is an easier way to do it. In this article, I will give you a step by step guide on how to install a language package in Elgg.
Languages packages can be found in the Elgg Community, specifically here. Such packages not only change the language of your site, but also the language of the majority of the plugins installed on your site. For the purposes of this guide, I am going to download and install Spanish Language package.
First, download a language package, then decompress it:
Once you decompress that file, you will get a folder. Open it. Usually inside of that folder, you will find two folders name mod and languages:
Now, with an ftp manager, open your domain’s ftp. Go to your Elgg folder and transfer those two folders of the language package. You will get some warnings, just choose overwrite existing files and continue with the transfer:
Wait for the transfer to finish. Once it is finish, go to to the Administration Settings, then Site Administration and choose the new language installed:
Save your changes.
This concludes How to install a language Package in Elgg.
