On a previous article, we talked about how to change file permissions in Website Panel. However, it was still confusing for our users, and even now users doesn’t seem to understand how the file permissions work under Website Panel. For that reason in this article I will explain further how to change read/write permissions
1. Log into WebsitePanel and go to the File Manager to browser your files/folders:
2. Now, click on the lock icon of the file you want to edit read/write permissions:
3. Now, here’s the tricky part. A small window will pop up, there it will show you some permission options. Here, check the ‘write’ option. This will not change all files permissions, just the one that was selected. This is where our users get confused, however they don’t need to worry, since other files will keep their read/write permissions:
4. And that’s it! File permissions were applied to the selected file.

I followed your steps and it didn’t do a thing. The files remain unprotected.
Can anyone modify the file? or just access it?
