This article will focus on how to find and resolve the most common issue with being unable to login to your phpFox website.
One of the most common questions that I see on the phpFox forums, has to do with being unable to login to a phpFox website. I have found that the most common cause for this issue is a crashed database table, specifically the phpfox_log_session table.
The most commonly reported symptom of this issue, is not being able to login, and seemingly looping back to the login screen. You may also find that the captcha doesn’t appear to work, or you will find that when trying to recover your password, the site simply seems to do nothing at all. If any combination of these three symptoms are happening, it is quite likely that your phpfox_log_session table has crashed and is in need of repair.
In order to repair your database table, you will need to login to your cPanel account and select the phpMyAdmin under your database options.
In the phpMyAdmin screen, select the database you are using for your phpFox website.
The list of tables in the database you selected will be listed both on the left side of the screen, as well as in the large portion of the screen on the right. Scroll down the large window and find the phpfox_log_session table and select it by placing a check in the checkbox.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page, you should see a dropdown box with the text “With selected:”
Select the Repair Table option to repair the database table. When the process has been completed, you should see the following:
After repairing your phpfox_log_session table, you should be able to login to your phpFox based website!
