In my previous post related to managing currencies in OpenCart, we had gone through details related to how to add new currency to OpenCart through Admin Panel. Now in this post I am going to cover one more topic related to OpenCart that is how to set a local currency for your OpenCart store. This is very crucial for any store because the currency which you set as local currency will be used as a base currency for your store.
By default the local currency is set to USD so if you see any product price it will be shown in USD.
These are the steps you need to follow in order to change local currency.
Step 1:
Login with admin credential in admin panel of OpenCart.
Step 2:
Go to “Local” tab from System>Setting Page.
Step 3:
Select new currency in currency field (from drop down) which you want to set as new currency.
Step 4:
Click on save and open your opencart store and you will be able to see new currency reflected in all prices of products.
NOTE: You will have to clear cache of browser in order to see the changes. or else open store in another browser.
Make sure you are setting base currency value as 1.00000 so that other currency values are calculated properly.
