In today’s blog I’ll show you how to create a custom membership levels for your Dolphin 7 based website. Dolphin comes with three default membership levels, they are:
Non-member – This level is self explanatory. It is anyone who hasn’t joined the site.
Standard – This is the basic level for anyone who signs up.
Promotion – This is a special membership you can use if you plan on adding paid membership types. If you enable it when a new member joins they are added to this type by default and allowed to explore the site for 7 days. At the end of the 7 days they are automatically changed to a standard member.
Today we’re going to create a new membership type called “Super Member”. We could say it’s for VIP members or paying members. First let’s log in to our Dolphin admin and go to “Membership Levels” under the “settings” heading on the left sidebar.
Next we’ll scroll down to the “Create” sub-heading and enter a name, description, the order we want it to appear and upload an icon for the new membership type.
Now we need to enable our new membership type by putting a check beside its name and clicking “Enable”.
Now it’s time to add the actions that these members will be allowed to perform. We can do this by clicking “Actions” beside the membership type.
To select the actions simply place a check beside each action you would like the member to have access to and then click “Enable” at the bottom of the screen.
You will notice the actions we selected have now turned blue. You can now set a pricing plan for your new membership type if you choose. To do this click “Pricing” beside the new membership type.
You are now able to enter a number of days and an amount for this membership type. In the example we will set the price at $9.99 for 30 days membership. After you enter those figures click “Add” and it’s complete.
You are able to add multiple lengths of time and prices for each membership type you create. That’s all there is to it, your members now have more options and you have more freedom to moderate their actions.
