You may find the need to customize or modify some of the modules in Zurmo to fit a specific business need. Accomplishing this is really simple with Zurmo!
The first step is to make sure you are on your Zurmo Dashboard. By selecting the Home button you will be situated on your Zurmo Dashboard.
Once on the Zurmo Dashboard, you notice the panel with the Home button also contains several other options such as Inbox, Accounts, Leads, Contacts, Opportunities, Marketing, Reports, and Products. For the purposes of this post, we will be changing the module currently labeled Accounts in the example below to Clients.
To begin making the modification, click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the Zurmo Dashboard. Once you have clicked in the gear icon, a drop down menu of choices presents you with options including Administration, Designer, Import, Users and more.
Roll your mouse pointer over the label for Designer and you will see it become highlighted as in the example above. Click on the Designer option and Zurmo will present you with a list of the modules available for modification. As we mentioned above, we will be modifying the Account module to the title of Client by using the reconfigure option to the right of the Account module in the module list.
To begin reconfiguring the Account module to Client, click on the configure option to the right of the Account module label. Zurmo will present you with a new screen in the Designer used in changing the label from Account to Client. In the new Designer screen, click in the upper Module Name area (note there are two Module Name areas, one for single and one for plural) and type client (lowercase and singular). In the lower of the two Module Name areas, type clients (lowercase and plural).
The next option you should consider is defining the search criteria for the Clients module. Again, Zurmo makes it easy! Scroll down below the module name section to the section of the screen labeled Global and Basic Search Fields immediately below the Module Name fields. You will see a list of fields such as Annual Revenue, Any City, Any Country and more. In the example below the Any Email Address field is marked as a searchable field. Select the fields you would like to use as searchable from the list of options.
Once you have completed choosing the searchable fields, scroll down to the bottom of the Designer and select Save.
When the Save is complete, select the Back to Application option in the upper left corner of the Designer screen.
Zurmo will refresh the screen and return you to the Dashboard where you will see that the panel beneath the Home button no longer shows an option for Account. Rather, in place of the Account option, you now see the Client option.
Now when you have need to modify any module, you can simply repeat this process to customize your Zurmo experience!
