Zurmo – Creating a Parent Product Category

In Zurmo, Product Categories are used to define product classifications into categories such as Software, Hardware, or Accessories for example. This also makes products more searchable. Let’s see how it’s done in Zurmo!

The first step is to make sure you are on your Zurmo Dashboard. By selecting the Home button you will be situated on your Zurmo Dashboard.

Home Dashboard

From the Dashboard, locate the Products option within the list of options just below the Home option.

Once you click on Products, Zurmo opens a new screen providing the option for creating a Parent Category.

As in the illustration above, select the down arrow within the Categories option to reveal the option to Create a Category. Select the Create Category option and Zurmo will present a new screen with two fields, Name and Parent Category.

To establish a Parent Category, type the name of the Parent Category into the Name filed and select Save. In this case we chose Testing Products as our Category Name.

Once the Save option is selected, Zurmo will refresh the screen to reveal a confirmation of the new Parent Category name.
