Hello and welcome! In today’s blog I will show you how to use the “simple messenger” module to that comes with your Dolphin 7.1 website. Before we begin, we need to install the module. A step by step guide on installing the Dolphin 7.1 base modules can be found here.
Once we have the module installed, we can access the admin options by clicking “Simple Messenger” under the “Modules” menu on the left side of the admin screen.
From this menu, we can control the interval between messenger updates and a few other features of the simple messenger.
To access the messenger, you simply place your mouse on a member’s avatar and after a few seconds the action menu pops up with a chat form at the bottom. Alternatively, you can also go to a member’s profile and the chat form will be located at the bottom of the action block. Once a message is entered and sent, a chat messenger window will pop-up on the screen.
NOTE: If you don’t see the chat form at the bottom of the action block after the module is installed, you need to make sure you have the “Use Simple Messenger” action allowed in the membership actions section of admin.
Done! Now your members will be able to chat in real time!
