Taking your Website Offline in Joomla 3

If you are working on the design of your Joomla site or if your site is under maintenance, it is a good idea to take it offline for a short period of time. In this article I will show you how to make your site offline in Joomla 3.

  1. Log into Joomla as an Administrator: Picture 1
  2. In the Administration dashboard, go to menu ‘System -> Global Configuration’: Picture 2
  3. Then, set “Site Offline” to “Yes”: Picture 3

And that’s it, your site will be offline now. To put it backs online just follow the same steps, and set “Site Offline” to “No”.
