Editing Files from the MODX Manager’s Top Menu

Last Updated on Thursday, 9 May 2013 02:07 Written by Bob Ray Saturday, 11 May 2013 12:00

Suppose you have some files on your MODX site that you edit often. I’m always hacking away at the main .CSS file, .htaccess, and sometimes a few JavaScript files. It’s a pain to keep going to the Files tab, waiting for the File tree to render, finding your file, and clicking on it. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to get there directly from the Manager’s Top Menu? It’s actually very easy to set this up, and you don’t have to write any code.

mojoPortal Tips: Using Inline Content Editing

Last Updated on Tuesday, 9 April 2013 02:05 Written by Carole Bennett Friday, 12 April 2013 12:00

One of the coolest features to be added to mojoPortal recently (as of 2.3.9.6) is the inline editing feature. It’s clean, simple and easy, but it can be slightly confusing at first. Let’s review how the new inline editing feature works, and what to watch for.

One of the few “gotchas” of using the inline editing feature is how to save real-time updates, without triggering the content approval process (even if it’s not turned on for that page or site).  Log into your mojoPortal site as an administrator, and navigate to a page where you’d like to test the inline editing function of your HTML feature. Look at the bottom of the page; do you see “Work in progress”, or “Live Content” on your administration bar? If you see “Work in progress”, it’ll automatically trigger a content approval process, even though you’re an administrator on the page.

A page that you can perform this edit would be the main shopping cart page located at index.php?route=checkout/cart

How to Edit the Global Announcement (with plugin) in Clip-Bucket v2

Last Updated on Tuesday, 30 October 2012 05:40 Written by Richi González Thursday, 1 November 2012 12:00

Hello,

Today I’ll show you how to add a Global Announcement to your Clip-Bucket v2 powered website. This announcement can be plain text or can have a cool css design, sort of like YTs. You must have the plugin that CB sells. In the future I’ll write an article on how to make one without purchasing it; keep checking.

Difficulty level: Can’t be easier
