SocialEngine 4: Hide Message Icons

Andrew - SocialEngine

With all the newest themes out today a few users are wishing for the message icon not to be shown or have a pull down menu. This can be done in a number of ways, the easiest and quickest way for this to work is by changing a code in the CSS file.

.layout_page_header #messages_pulldown {display:none;}

This is only able to be used with newer themes like Zephyr Theme.

If you have the Zephyr Theme and wish to use this option then you do not need to amend the CSS File as they allow you to add a custom code to the script via the Zephyr menu as below.

1. Go to “Admin”

2. Click on “Zephyr Theme Options” on the right side.

3. Click on “Styling” Tab and scroll down to “Custom CSS”

4. Add this Code :

<span class="pun">.</span><span class="pln">layout_page_header </span><span class="com">#messages_pulldown {display:none;}</span>

5. click “save”

6. Go to you Page and refresh with F5 and CTRL !

If you don’t have Zephyr Theme you can edit the CSS File via your admin panel and clicking theme editor.

Always make a Backup of any files which you intend to change so you can also revert back if needed.
