In this blog post, we will cover the basics of restoring files, folders, and more through R1Soft and cPanel. The installation of R1Soft into every server is a complimentary gift to all of our customers to increase redundancy (backups hosted on a separate server) and to provide a quick and easy way for customers to restore their items whenever they need.
Here is what you will need:
1) Your Arvixe web hosting plan
2) Your cPanel username and password
3) The location of your cPanel login
If you get lost at any point in the following tutorial, feel free to comment or contact us and we would be glad to help.
Login to your cPanel and navigate to the “R1Soft Restore Backups” button and click on it:
After clicking on it, you will be directed to the restoration interface(screenshot below). From here, you will utilize the icons listed to the right of each date to restore data.
Closeup of icons :
The folder icon will allow you to browse through all of the data, while the disk will download a backup to your local machine, and the last icon will copy a full backup to the server in compressed format.
If you use the folder icon and expand your saved data, you will see something like this. From this menu you can navigate and find a specific file to restore, I selected my index.php for illustration.
By clicking on the “restore selected” option on the top of the page, the files will be directly copied over to your account into their correct location. The other copy options will simply create a compressed archive and copy that under your account.
You can now proceed to click “OK” on the bottom right.
At this point, the software will automatically start the restoration of your files and folders. When it is done, the progress bar will stop moving and it will say 100% next to it:
Now you can go back and check to see if the restore did what you want. Now, if you run into any problems, have any concerns, or would like to give feedback and suggestions, submit a comment below.
