nopCommerce Tips: Offering Special Prices to Premium Customers, Part 1

It’s not unusual to offer special discount pricing to preferred customers; a perfect example is the pricing available to Amazon Prime subscribers. With nopCommerce, it’s easy to set special pricing discounts for your preferred customers, and increase customer loyalty/return business.

Let’s start by creating your Preferred Customer role; log into your nopCommerce instance, and in Admin, hover over “Customers”, and select “Customer Roles”. Click the “Add New” button at the upper right; give your new role a name (I went with “Super Special Customers”), and a system name (no spaces). Click “Save”.

Now go to “Customers”/”Customers”. Choose a customer, and click “Edit”. Click the “Customer Roles” tab, and check the box for “Super Special Customers”, then click “Save”.

To recap: so far, we’ve created a “special customer” role, and added a customer to that role. Take a look at one of your current product prices in the store; now in the Admin, go to Catalog/Products/Manage Products. Select a product, and click “Edit”. Click the product variant tab, and “Edit” again. Select the “Tier Prices” tab, and “Add New Record”.

In the drop-down, select your customer group that you’ve just created. Now select a product quantity, and then enter an amount under “Price”. Click “Save”, and then access the product as a member of your customer group. You’ll see that the product is now available at the discounted rate you’ve set for that group.

This is a terrific way to reward loyal customers, or encourage customers to register with your site.
