nopCommerce Tips: Checking the Message Queue

Occasionally, you may have technical issues with your hosting provider’s mail server, or your nopCommerce-site customers may have an interruption on their end. With nopCommerce, this doesn’t mean that you can’t recover that message, and re-send it, if necessary. Today, we’ll review how that works.
1. Log into your nopCommerce instance as an administrator, and go to the Administration section.
2. Under “System”, select “Message Queue”
3. If you’ve had a server outage, and some e-mails weren’t able to be sent out, you’ll usually see them already listed on this page. In order to confirm, click the “Search” button, ensuring that “not yet sent” is selected.
4. If you’d like to find a message that has been sent, unselect “not yet sent”, and if you know the general time frame or sender, enter the information in the appropriate fields at the top of the page.
To re-send the messages that may have been caught up in your message queue, click the “edit” link next to an unsent message, and select “Requeue”. A copy of this message will be generated, and added to the outbound queue. Once you’ve had the copy “send” successfully, it’s a good idea to remove the original from the queue to prevent confusion. Just check the unsent message, and click “Delete” at the top right of the screen.
This feature can be a lifesaver in the case of systems outages due to inclement weather, where the mail service may be interrupted.
