The longer you’re in business, the more complicated your routine can become. This becomes even more true as you become more successful, and therefore, even busier than ever. Any opportunity to simplify your routine is a blessing; you may start by creating a marketing calendar, so that you know what you’re promoting, and when. If you have a marketing calendar, you’ll want to schedule your news notices to coincide with your marketing efforts. Today, we’ll review how to do this in nopCommerce.
Log into your nopCommerce instance as an administrator, then go to Administration>Content Management>News>News Items.
Click on “Add New”; enter your title, and short description. The short description is a “teaser”, which will be displayed on the front page of your nopCommerce site, so that visitors will be drawn into reading the full article. I recommend that you make it short and intriguing, and add a small image (use regular HTML markup) to increase visual interest.
Even if you don’t have a full article yet, put some placeholder text in “Full Description”, and uncheck “Published”, before clicking “Save and Continue Edit” – otherwise, you’ll get an error message that’s easily overlooked, and you may leave the page not realizing that you haven’t actually saved the article after all.
Once you start on the “full description” (the actual article), you may want to add images; click on the small rectangular icon next to the “anchor” icon to get the image dialog to appear. Click the green “plus” sign on the right to add your image to the server, then select it and click “Insert” to get your image into your news article.
Once you’re done with your article, click “Save and continue edit” again; set your start and end dates according to your marketing calendar, and click “Published”. Your article won’t appear until the “start date”, but you can repeat this sequence and schedule your news articles well in advance, so that you can focus on the rest of your successful e-commerce business!
