Minification in ASP

Minification is a technique you can use in ASP.NET 4.5 to allow a better request load time. In this article, I will explain how to apply this technique in your ASP.NET projects.

What’s Minification?

The Minification of resources refers to the elimination of unnecessary or redundant data (comments and formatting, removing unused code, using shorter variable and function names…) without affecting how the resource is processed by the application.

Getting Started

How do we apply Minification in our project? It is extremely easy. Let’s look at this a simple example code:

SumNumber = function(MyNumber1, MyNumber2)
{ var ResultTotal = MyNumber1 + MyNumber2; }

If we apply Minification we can the code above shorter, thus saving some transfer bytes:

SumNumber = function(n1, n2) { var i=n1+n2;}

We can easily apply minification with NuGet. NuGet is the package manager for the Microsoft development platform including .NET.

NuGet Manager provides tools so you can optimize your code scripts of projects to improve and accelerate the compilation and better performance.

And that’s it. The Minification is a technique must be applied in all our projects to optimize acceleration processes.
