Make your TomatoCart Admin Panel Work Smoothly in IE9 & IE10

Some users report admin panel doesn’t work in IE9 & IE10:

1. In admin, icons display problem on IE10

I tested the demo at this address http://demo.tomatocart.com/admin and then I noticed that when I use Internet Explorer 10 the desktop icons in the backend does not appear, there is only the text under the non-displayed images.

2. In admin panel, cannot click on categories in product windows. The start menu and task bar is ugly.

I tested the demo this http://demo.tomatocart.com/admin address and then I noticed that when I use Internet Explorer 9-10, in the back-end, I cannot click on the product categories to the left column in the Products window

In fact, when the first TomatoCart stable version was released in 2008, there weren’t the IE9 and IE10 yet. So, TomatoCart was just compatible with IE7 & IE8. But, it is possible to make TomatoCart admin panel work smoothly in IE9 & IE10 too. You just need to adjust a few of code as follow:

Step 1. Go to admin/templates/default.php and open it with your favorite text editor.

Step 2. Find the following code snippet in it:

if(!isset($_SESSION['admin'])) {
    require('templates/default/login/login.php');
    exit;
}

Step 3. Add following code snippet after the above code snippet:

//enable the IE compatible mode
if (stripos($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'], 'msie 9') !== false || stripos($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'], 'msie 10') !== false || stripos($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT'], 'msie') !== false) {
   header('X-UA-Compatible: IE=7');
}

After the code updates, your admin panel should work perfectly in IE9 and IE10.
