Installing Joomla 1.5 using Fanastico

Select the Fantastico Icon

Step One:

In this Tutorial I am going to Install Joomla 1.5 into my website using Fantastico. To begin, you must first login into your cpanel. This can be done by typing in your browser http://cpanel.yourdomain.com, or http://yourdomain.com/cpanel. You will then be asked for a username and password, which you chose when setting up your account. Once you are logged into cpanel, scroll about three-fourths of the way down the page and find the Fantastico De Luxe icon; which is the light blue, circular smiley face, in the middle far right of this screenshot.

Once you’ve clicked on the Fantastico icon, the main Fantastico page will come up. At this point, Fantastico gives you the option to automatically install any of the scripts on the left-hand side of the page. For the purpose of this tutorial, we will select Joomla 1.5 from the Content Management category.

After you’ve clicked on the Joomla 1.5 link, a page with a list of options should appear. Select the link that reads New Installation, in the middle of the page, to begin your installation of Joomla 1.5.

Click on New Installation

Provide the information, that will best suite your open source content manager

Once this has been selected, the first page of Joomla setup will come up, it will ask you for some basic information so that your open source content manager is setup accurately. Choose the correct domain, then type the name of the directory you would like to CREATE and place Joomla in, for example the directory Joomla, that I would like Joomla to be placed in, did not exist before this process, be sure to leave this portion blank if you would like Joomla to be installed into the root directory. Next, create yourself a administrator username and password, be sure to keep this information private and make sure it is something you will remember in the future. Then, provide your admin email, give yourself an admin name you would like to be referred by and lastly, make sure the site name is correct. Once this has all been completed, proceed to click on the Install Joomla 1.5 gray box and the bottom of the page.

Make sure the information is correct before clicking Finish Installation

The next page to appear will inform you of your new database that has been created for you, and will also confirm with you the domain and directory you would like Joomla to be installed in. If the information is correct, click on the Finish Installation icon.

For the last and final step, go over the page shown to you once more, and make sure the information is the same as what you previously provided and desired. This page will also show you again your admin username and password, just in case you may have forgot, as well as the path to your administrator page (http://.bestreda.com/joomla/administrator). When you have completed looking at this page, type in the email address you would like to have the details of your installation sent to. Congratulations! you have now installed Joomla 1.5 into your website.

Type in the email you would like to have the details of your setup set to.

Type in the email you would like to have the details of your setup set to.

To access your Joomla 1.5 go to http://yourdomain.com/”directory you chose” mine would be http://bestreda.com/Joomla, notice that I capitalized the ‘J’ in Joomla because that is how I originally typed it. Once you’ve gotten to this page, you will see the Login Form on the left hand side of the page, this is where you would input your administrator information.
