Image Captcha: Another Tool to Stop Bot Spammers in Elgg

In this article I will show you how to install another tool to stop bot spammers called Image Captcha.

What Image Captcha does is upon registration, a user has to select an image before signing up to your site. This is good, because it will stop bots from registering in your elgg site and the flow of spams will decrease. You can download Image Captcha from here.

Once downloaded unzip the plugin. Then with an FTP Manager, connect to your site and follow this steps:

1) Upload it to the mod folder in your Elgg installation:

2) Log in to your Elgg site as an Admin

3) Go to the Administration page. On the left menu, click on Tool Administration. In there, find the plugin installed and click on the button that says enable to activate this plugin:

4) Now, Image Captcha is active. Go to the registration page to see the image captcha working:

It is important to protect your Elgg site against automated spammers. Never leave your site unprotected, because those automated spammers will flood your site with endless posts and will decrease the performance of your site and our servers.

This concludes Image Captcha: Another tool to stop bot spammers in Elgg
