How to Display Products of the Subcatalogs in TomatoCart

Since TomatoCart1.1.8, there is one configuration – Display products in the subcatalogs recursively added into the Admin Panel->Configuration->Configuration->My Store. In this article, you will learn how to use this useful configuration.

Configuration – Display products in the subcatalogs recursively

Figure 1. There new configuration under Admin Panel->Configuration->Configuration->My Store

When you set this configuration to true, it means that the products in the subcategories will be displayed and counted in the parent category too. For example, there is a hp category in the Printers&Scanners category as follows:

Figure 2. Hp category in the Printers&Scanners category

And, there are four products in the hp category. As you can see, when the ‘Display products in the subcatalogs recursively’ is set to true, the products are counted as number 4 in the Printers&Scanners category. When you click the Printers&Scanners category, the detailed four products in the hp category will be displayed in the product listing as follows:

So, if you don’t want to display the products of the subcategories in the parent category, this configuration should be set to false. And then, it is necessary to clear the category_tree cache under Admin Panel->Tools->Cache Control. Otherwise, the category tree in the store front won’t be regenerated.

Note: when you change the value of this configuration, don’t forget to clear the clear the category_tree cache under Admin Panel->Tools->Cache Control. It is important to do that clear.Otherwise, this configuration is useless.
