I’m getting the following error when trying to install Orchard. I’m using a new domain, not a subdomain.
The application could not be installed:
    - Cannot create database
    - Specified database already exists on the target service

This is the first application I’ve installed on the domain

This means that the database name you are providing already exists. Simply change the name of the database you are trying to create.

I recently contracted with Arvixe for web hosting and a site name. Currently, I am using MS Web Matrix and Orchard to develop my site on my local machine. Will I be able to use the Publish function of Web Matrix to publish the Orchard site to Arvixe without doing the above steps?

You would be best served by contacting our support department with specific details. I would also suggest trying it outright, and going from there. If it works, great! If not, it is a good baseline for troubleshooting and solving the problem. Open a ticket at support.arvixe.com when you are ready.
