How to Backup Your Elgg Site

On a previous post you learnt how to backup your website. However, when it comes to elgg, additional things needs to be done in order to have a complete backup. This article will give you a step by step guide on How to Backup your Elgg Site from your cPanel. Sign into your cPanel and follow these steps:

1. Once you are inside the cPanel, look for the files section and click on Backup Wizard:

2. It will take you to the wizard. On the first step, click on backup:

3. On the second step, click on Full Backup:

4. That will take you to the last step which select the domain in which elgg is installed and select the destination of the backup of your site in zip format and were to send the details of the backup:

5. And that’s it.

We do it this way, and not the other way described in the other post because in case you need to restore your Elgg site to a previous state by any reason, it has to be manual, and not through the cPanel interface because it will give you issues. Also, in this way, it is more simple.

This now concludes How to Backup your Elgg Site.
