How to Shorten the Homepage Content in WordPress

By default, WordPress displays the whole content on the homepage. Your users will be required to scroll down a lot to read the whole website. In such a scenario, you need to install Homepage Excerpts WordPress Plugin which enables you to shorten the content on the homepage.

(1) Download Homepage Excerpts WordPress Plugin

(2) Upload homepage_excerpts.php file to wp-content/plugins folder

(3) Activate the plugin from WordPress dashboard

(4) Navigate to Settings | Homepage Excerpts. You will view a page as shown below

As you can see, the plugin contains an option to choose number of posts which has to be fully displayed including the ability to provide the number of words for the excerpt.

By default, the excerpts are grabbed from the first few lines of the post content.
