Allow Members to “Hide” from the Browse Members in phpFox v.3.5

This article will show you how to allow members in a specific user group to hide their profile from the Browse Member page in the 3.5 version of phpFox.

phpFox released the 1st Beta of version 3.5.  This new version has some features that you may want to enable on your site.  Keep in mind, that at the time of the writing of this article, phpFox v.3.5 is in its first Beta stage, so it is not recommended that you load it on a live website.  Per your phpFox license, you can install phpFox on a live site AND on a development version of your live site in a development or phpfoxdev subfolder or subdomain.

With that said, one of the new features in phpFox version 3.5 is the ability to hide members in a specific user group from the Browse Members page.

Login to your AdminCP and select Users > Manage User Groups.

manage

On the Manage User Groups page, click the drop down arrow to the left of the user group you want to edit.  Select Edit User Group.

managegroup

On the Manage User Settings screen, scroll down the left column to the User link and click User.

A list of settings for the User Module will show in the right column.  Scroll down this list until you find the following:

enable

Select Yes, then click the Save button.

When your members in this user group set their Privacy Settings to Invisible, they will now be hidden from the Browse Members page!
