Adding and Removing Media Categories in Dolphin 7

If you’ve ever uploaded any media to your Dolphin 7 site, you might have wondered if you could add or remove the default categories you are allowed to select from.

The answer is yes, and it’s very easy to do. Start by logging into your Dolphin admin panel and selecting “Categories Settings” under the “Settings” menu on the left side of the screen.

From this screen you can see all the default categories for any module you currently have installed by changing the drop down menu to that module under the “All Categories” area.

If you want to add a new category it’s as simple as typing in the new name in the “Name” blank under the “New Category” area. Then change the drop down menu in that same area to the module you wish to add and then click “Submit”.

You’ll now see your new category at the bottom with the default categories.

To delete your new category or any of the default categories you simply put a check next to it and click “Delete” at the bottom of the screen.

This will move the category to the “Pending Approval” section so you can re-activate it if you ever with to use it again.

By following the steps above you are able to customize the categories for music, movies, pictures and any of the other modules that support categories.
