Add a new attribute in OpenCart

When creating products within your OpenCart store it is only normal that you might need to detail some product attributes. OpenCart does ship with most of the useful attributes but what if it didn’t meet all of your requirements?

In this article, I am going to show you exactly how to create a new attribute on a per-product basis. An example can be seen below:

Specification Example

Step 1:

Login to OpenCart Admin Panel and navigate to “Catalog> Attributes” Section.

Step 2:

On Attributes page you will be able to see list of all available attributes. Click on “+” Add attribute link shown on top right corner of page. It will lead you to attribute creation page.

Step 3:

Give name to your new attribute and set group under which you want to add it. Click on “Save” after filling all details.

Now you Attribute is created in repository and it will available for all products. To test that attribute I have create new product “iPhone 7” in my cart and added that newley created attribute to that product.

Add Attribute to Product

Now if I go to my OpenCart store and check product details page of “iPhone7”. I am able to see new attribute under specification section of my new product.
